Cookie policy

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser to remember information between visits or pages. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent e-privacy rules treat other browser storage technologies — such as localStorage or sessionStorage — the same way when they're used for similar purposes, so we cover them here too even though they aren't technically cookies.

These cookies and storage technologies don't require your consent because they're essential for the site to work:

• bebipo:my-list (localStorage): stores the names you add to "My list" so they're still there if you close your browser or come back another day. It only exists on your device; it's never sent to our servers.
• bebipo:finder-step and bebipo:finder-jump (sessionStorage): remember which step of the name finder you were on, so you don't lose your progress if you navigate to another page on the site. They're cleared automatically when you close the tab or browser.
• bebipo:cookie-consent (localStorage): stores your choice about analytics cookies (accept or reject) so we don't ask you again on every visit.

We use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit Bebipo and which pages they view most, so we can improve the site. These cookies aren't necessary for the site's basic functioning: they're only set if you accept the consent panel shown when you arrive. Until you accept, no Google Analytics cookie is set in your browser, and Google Analytics doesn't collect or store your full IP address.

If you accept, these cookies are set:

• _ga (up to 2 years): distinguishes unique users between visits.
• _ga_<GA4 property ID> (up to 2 years): maintains analytics session state.

To display the site's typefaces (Fredoka and Inter), we load a stylesheet from Google Fonts' servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). In doing so, your browser sends Google your IP address and other technical data typical of any web request, similar to visiting any page that links to a resource hosted outside our domain. This use of Google Fonts doesn't set tracking cookies, but it does involve technical communication with Google's servers (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). You can delete the content stored in your browser (your name list and finder progress) at any time by clearing this site's browsing data from your browser settings — usually under "Settings › Privacy › Cookies and site data" — or by using a private browsing window. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies and resources by default; if you block Google Fonts, the site will still work normally, showing a system fallback typeface instead.

You can accept or reject analytics cookies at any time by clicking "Change cookie preference" at the bottom of this page; your choice takes effect immediately and replaces any earlier one.
