Bebipo

Privacy policy

At Bebipo we take the privacy of everyone who uses the site seriously. This policy explains, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), what information we process, for what purpose, for how long, and what rights you can exercise.

Data controller

The controller responsible for processing data related to this website is the individual who operates Bebipo under that name. You can contact us at privacy@bebipo.com for any question about this policy or to exercise your rights.

What data we process

Bebipo is an informational baby-name suggestion site. It doesn't require sign-up, has no user accounts or contact forms, and we don't directly ask you for any personal data to use its features.

  • Data that stays in your browser: your favourite-names list ("My list") and your name-finder progress are stored only on your own device and are never transmitted to our servers or to third parties. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
  • Analytics data, only if you accept analytics cookies: Google Analytics collects aggregated, pseudonymised data about your visit — pages viewed, time on site, device and browser type, approximate country from your IP without storing the full IP — to help us understand how the site is used. You can reject or withdraw your consent at any time; see the Cookie Policy.
  • Technical browsing data: as with any website, our hosting provider automatically logs certain technical data for each visit (IP address, date and time, requested pages, browser and operating system) in its server logs, solely to keep the site secure and running properly. These logs are kept for the minimum time necessary for that purpose and are never cross-referenced with anything else to identify you.
  • External resources: loading the site's typefaces from Google Fonts involves sending your IP address to Google. See the corresponding section of the Cookie Policy.
  • We never collect health data or any data about the baby or child the name is being chosen for: the site doesn't record who searched for which name, or for whom.

Purpose and legal basis for processing

  • Providing the service (showing suggestions and letting you save them while you browse): legal basis, performance of the request made by you as a user (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Security and proper functioning of the site, through the hosting provider's technical logs: legal basis, legitimate interest in protecting the service against abuse or incidents (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Web analytics (Google Analytics), if you accept it: legal basis, your prior consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), requested via the consent panel shown when you enter the site. You can withdraw it at any time from the Cookie Policy. There's no advertising active on the site yet.

Data retention

Your name list and finder progress remain in your browser until you delete them yourself or clear the site's browsing data; we have no access to them and therefore no ability to delete them on your behalf. The hosting provider's technical access logs are kept for the minimum period necessary for security purposes, usually no more than a few months.

Recipients and data transfers

We don't sell or share data with third parties for commercial purposes. The only third parties currently involved are:

  • The hosting provider that hosts this website, which acts as a processor with respect to its own technical access logs.
  • Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), through loading Google Fonts' typefaces and, if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics; based in the European Union and the United States respectively. Google relies on international-transfer safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it, object to its processing, request its restriction or portability, and withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on it. Since the site doesn't store personal data on our servers beyond the technical logs described above, many of these rights can be exercised directly by clearing your browser's data; for any other request, write to us at privacy@bebipo.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Spain's data protection authority (AEPD, www.aepd.es) — since that's where the controller is established — or with your own country's data protection authority if you live in another EU member state.

Children

Bebipo is a name-suggestion tool meant to be used by adults choosing a baby's name. The site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you have reason to believe a child has provided us with personal data without their guardians' consent, contact us at privacy@bebipo.com and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is always served over HTTPS, and we apply technical and organisational measures that are reasonable and proportionate to the fact that, today, we don't store personal data on our own servers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect legal changes or changes in how the site works (for example, when enabling advertising or analytics). We'll publish any relevant change on this same page along with the date it was last updated.
